Overview

ZedTranslate is designed to support translation and language access while handling product data responsibly. This page explains the main categories of data involved in the product, including translation text, operational analytics, and support workflows.

Camera and image processing

• Camera access is used for text recognition and translation workflows.
• Image processing for OCR is performed on-device using mobile tooling.
• Captured images are not retained permanently by the website service.
• Some translations may be processed locally, while others may be processed using secure cloud-based AI translation systems. When cloud processing is used, the text you submit is transmitted only for the purpose of generating a translation and improving translation quality.

Translation data

• Translation history may be stored locally on your device. Where cloud translation, account sync, feedback, or quality improvement features are used, translation text and related metadata may be transmitted to ZedTranslate systems.
• We may collect and store translation input, translation output, source language, target language, mode selected, timestamps, and related metadata to provide the service, improve translation quality, detect errors, prevent abuse, and develop better support for Zambian languages.

AI Translation Providers

ZedTranslate may use internal models, translation memory, language datasets, and third-party AI service providers to generate translations. Text submitted for translation may be sent to these systems to process the request. We do not require users to provide personal information inside translation text, and users should avoid submitting passwords, financial details, medical records, or other highly sensitive information for translation.

Improving Zambian Language Support

ZedTranslate may use anonymized or aggregated translation data, user corrections, feedback, and usage patterns to improve translation quality, build language datasets, evaluate model performance, and develop better support for Zambian languages. Where possible, we remove or reduce personal identifiers before using data for improvement.

Analytics and operational data

• The website tracks visits, traffic source, and aggregate download activity.
• The mobile app can report installation, session, and event data for product operations.
• These analytics flows support reliability, release planning, and usage analysis.

Payments and subscriptions

Where payments exist, they are handled by third-party payment providers and app-store billing systems. ZedTranslate does not store raw card details on the website surface.
